Exercise for Sleep 1: Meditation:
For people who find it difficult to sleep, we have included guidance within the book and exercises that you can try.  The following may help you in the short term and sometimes, it is helpful in the long term.

As you lay in bed, try to clear your mind and concentrate upon your breath.  Listen, as you breathe in and out.  Initially, you may find that the breath is shallow, or quick.  Take notice of how you breathe. 

As you breathe in, breathe in a little longer than before.

As you breathe out, breathe out a little longer than before.

As you breathe in, count 1,2,3,4.

As you breathe out, count 1,2,3,4.

As you breathe in, count 1,2,3,4,5.

As you breathe out, count 1,2,3,4,5.

As you breathe in, relax your body.

As you breathe out, relax more.

As you breathe in, relax.

As you breathe out, relax.

As you breathe in, say 'Welcome sleep'

As you breathe out, say 'goodbye day'.

As you breathe, relax, 'I welcome sleep'.

As you breathe out, relax 'goodbye day'.

Continue until you feel relaxed.
